In Focus: Asian American Art from the Collection
A Cantor Arts Center exhibition showcasing recent acquisitions from the Asian American Art Initiative (AAAI), founded in 2018 by Stanford art history professor Marci Kwon and curator Aleesa Pitchamarn Alexander. The AAAI has grown from roughly 30 works to over 800, making it one of the nation's leading museum initiatives dedicated to Asian American art. This exhibition presents works by artists including Pacita Abad, Ching Ho Cheng, Tseng Kwong Chi, Young Joon Kwak, Masami Teraoka, and Rupy C. Tut, spanning generations, media, and artistic approaches. Many works are being presented to the public for the first time. The exhibition runs during regular museum hours; admission is always free.
